The essentials: distance and time
Happy Inn is on the 10th floor of 185 Zhonghua Rd. Sec. 1, Central District, Taichung (the Zhonghua Juxing Building), about 1.5 km from Taichung Station. That's roughly a 12–15 minute walk or a 5–8 minute drive; by bus, it's a 3-minute walk from the nearest stop.
Once you reach the building, take the lift from the ground-floor entrance to the 10th floor, where the front desk is staffed 24 hours — no need to worry about arriving late.
On foot: 12–15 minutes through the old Central District
The walk from Taichung Station takes about 12–15 minutes. With light luggage, walking is the most economical way to arrive and the best way to take in the Central District, passing the area's classic streetscape along the way.
The night market is right below the inn: head to 185 Zhonghua Rd. Sec. 1, find the Zhonghua Juxing Building entrance, and take the lift to the 10th floor to check in.
By bus: two stops to choose from
Zhonghua Rd. / Taiwan Blvd. stop: the closest to the inn, a 3-minute walk away. Many routes serve it, including 1, 21, 25, 35, 61, 70, 100, 102, 301 and 308 — about ten lines in all.
Sanmin Rd. Sec. 2 stop: a 6-minute walk, served by routes 35, 41, 70, 71, 100, 102 and 300.
Either works, but we recommend the Zhonghua Rd. / Taiwan Blvd. stop — it's just a 3-minute walk to the building.
Driving and scooters: where to park
Driving from Taichung Station takes about 5–8 minutes. The inn has no car park of its own, but there are three within a 3–5 minute walk: Dacheng Multi-storey Car Park (indoor, $20/hr, 3 min), Zhonghua Car Park (open-air, $30/hr, 3 min) and Second Market Car Park (indoor, $40/hr, 5 min).
A money-saving tip: roadside parking is free from 8pm to 8am, so overnight parking can make good use of this window alongside a metered lot.
Scooters are easiest of all: there are free parking bays in the lane on the right of the building.
Can't find the entrance? Look for the 'Zhonghua Juxing Building'
The inn is on the 10th floor; at street level, look for the Zhonghua Juxing Building (185 Zhonghua Rd. Sec. 1). Enter, take the lift to the 10th floor, and the Happy Inn front desk is right as you step out.
